She additionally completed a course that prepared her for Secretarial Work, where Gayle learned new skills in shorthand, typing and bookkeeping. These skills acted as the foundation for her career in business operations. Business Owner and Founder In the 1970s, Gayle Smith Gay and her family entered the hospitality industry with a restaurant business. Another page in Gayle’s story of determination and dedication, becoming a Business Owner was far from a walk in the park. Quite literally rolling her sleeves up, Gayle was hands-on in her ownership of the restaurant. Joined by her kin in the operation, Gayle worked as a waitress while her loved ones greeted guests, rang the cash register and cooked food in the kitchen. Their efforts of hard work and commitment would prove successful, as the restaurant became a profitable business. Behind the scenes, the daytime waitress took on the role of a Bookkeeper, managing finances of the business on the day to day. |
